Macy Gray
Opening Act: Black Eyed Peas
MAY 27, 2000
The Greek Theatre, Berkeley, CA
I'm not sure the Black Eyed Peas could have been more whatever, but you know such is the opening band. It didn't help that the concert was packed and the lawn seats at the Greek suck because they are a slightly steeper grade than makes any logical sense at a venue. It's nice to make it easier to see, but when you're one good grip from sliding down the hill, it's no fun. Macy Gray was all insane, nutty pep and I don't think she made a whole lotta sense. She played her then radio songs like "I Try" and "Why Didn't You Call Me" and that "Sex-O-Matic Venus Freak" song. I didn't know about that. It was interesting. I'm not a prude, but it's always funny the part of an artist that gets displayed on the radio and the whole of their identity and sound.
